Diet Bet Update

Today ends week 1 of the Dietbet. It's been a pretty good week. I've got in all my workouts, a few extra walks, and drinking all the water. Doing this Dietbet has made me think before I eat. I'm down 3 pounds!!!!! Which is awesome for me. I only have to 3.1 more pounds to lose. I'm pretty confident I'm going to win!

I also decided to take a break from my polar hrm while I workout. Sometimes I get a little to focused on the numbers during my workout. I'm trying to make sure I have lots of variety in my workouts. It not only helps me from getting bored but, it's good to keep your body guessing.

How's your week been???

Finding a New Grove

So the past few weeks have been filled with lots of stress and uncertainties. For me stress equals headaches, insomnia, and eating all the food. I didn't become a stress eater till college. It was just so easy to run to some fast food place and get whatever I wanted. Milkshake's, cheese burgers, fries, cheese sticks, and whatever else sounded good in the moment. Of course back then it was easy to keep my weight where I wanted it. But, now I'm in my early 30's I've had two kids and a household to manage its a lot harder to do those things.

A blooger I follow Mama Laughlin is hosting a diet bet. I was on the fence about doing it. But, my best friend signed up and basically told me I need to do it. So, I signed up it started yesterday.

How does Dietbet work?  It's pretty simple you bet a certain amount of money (this game the bet is $35). You have 28 days to lose 4% of your body weight. For this game I have to lose 6.1 pounds. At the end of the 28 days if you hit your goal you get your money back. For the people who didn't make their goal they lose their bet and the money is split between those that won the bet. There are rules to do an official weigh in to start and weigh out at the end. My workout plan is 3 days of cardio, 3 days of strength training, and some abs sprinkled in. I'm also doing 30 minute power walks in the morning.

If you want to check it out here is the link http://diet.bt/qUdLM7

I know it's a great way to get on track especially heading into summer.

Have you ever done a Dietbet???

Let's try again

So I had big plans for this blog and sadly I let life get in the way. I've been working on using my time more wisely and setting goals for myself. So let's see if I can get back on track.

Today is the first day of spring break. I really am not wild about it starting in the middle of the week and this break is only 6 days :( oh well.

I try to plan a few fun things for us to do without breaking the bank. This spring break we are going to watch pixars new movie Home. I honestly can't tell you who is more excited me or the kids. We also plan to do some stuff outside weather permitting ( it's thundering like crazy as I type this). Fly a kite, water balloon fight, bug & flower hunt, &  explore a new park, bake some Easter treats. My oldest isn't into cooking but, my youngest loves to help.

Happy Hump Day!!!!!

Friday Funday

Whooo hooo Friday Friday!!!!! Yes I'm a mom and Friday's don't really mean much but, hey let's celebrate it anyway! I am celebrating getting back on track with my workouts and eating healthy!!

This week I have been super busy. Busy in a good way I am over all my dental crap and infection. Thank God tooth pain is the absolute worse. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. While dealing with all of that I couldn't work out and I wasn't eating much of anything. Then when I was finally able to workout I was definitely half assing them. And I was snacking way to much.

I had a very stern talk with myself last weekend. I have goals I want to reach this year. And one of them is doing a boudoir photo shoot this fall. I want to look and feel my best. The only person who can make that happen is me!

I happen to be at Wal-Mart and found an awesome planner for .50 cents (I know big spender). I got back home sat down and wrote out my goals. I added some mini goals and deadlines. I even planned every workout for the next 4 weeks. Right now I am doing power walks in the morning anywhere from 1-3 miles. Then in the afternoon I do a workout using my kettle-bells and other home equipment.

And this week my booty is back on track with workout's and eating better. I even did some spring cleaning while hubby is away.

Tonight I get to watch movies and build lego sets with my boys! What could be better? Maybe some wine ;)

How are you spending your Friday night???

Is This Week Over Yet ?!?!?

My first full week of 2015 has not gone according to plan. Monday I planned on starting a new workout plan. I am very excited about and will share a bit more about in my next post.  I also planned on getting a jump on some early spring cleaning/organizing. But, over the weekend one of my back molars decided to break. Call the dentist fist thing Monday morning we can see you Friday. Ok sounds good it wasn't bothering me or painful. Monday afternoon I gather up everything for my workout barley get started and my tooth starts shooting pains. And I start to get a killer headache. I try to push through but, the more I try the worse so I had to stop. I didn't even get half way through it :( I was pretty bummed.

Call the dentist office Tuesday morning sorry the soonest we can get you in is Thursday. I take it and spent all of Tuesday and Wednesday in more and more pain. Nothing in my medicine cabinet helped I pretty much was a lump of human flesh all week. My boys just couldn't understand how a tooth could hurt someone so much. That lead to talk about how important it is to floss and brush are teeth really well.

Anyway finally get to the dentist and decide to have it pulled. Thank you sweet baby Jesus for laughing gas and for the dentist not breaking my jaw. Seriously I was bit scared for a minute that my jaw was totally going to snap. Tomorrow I should be pretty much pain free and get back to my workouts. I will be back to normal just in time for the weekend.

I'm off to get cozy on the couch with D and watch a movie.

Happy Thursday!!!! Do you have any fun weekend plans???

Creating a home gym

A year and half ago my husband received PCS orders to a new duty station. We were excited for the move. Not only would we be closer to home but, we would be living in the South!!! I was super pumped for it. I knew we would be moving to a much much smaller city. And I would not be able to continue our family Y membership. I was honestly very sad about that. At our local Y I had lots of different workout classes to try, child care while I worked out, and classes for my boys to participate in.
The local gyms in our new area were pretty limited and none offered any kind of child care. Who wants to pay for a membership then pay out more money for someone to watch your kiddos so you can go workout. I could have tried and worked out in the evenings but, by the time my husband is home dinner is done and cleaned. Then homework for P. I knew I just wouldn't go.

So I started putting together my own little home gym. Now I find it very difficult to spend money on myself. I will admit I tend to put everyone and their needs above my own needs and wants. But, I know I am a better mom and wife when I exercise and take care of myself. I want to be a good role model for my kids and I want to be around for a very long time. I lost my dad when I was 16. I don't want my kids having to go through something like that, while they are growing up.

When looking for any kind of workout equipment shop around. Check your local yard sale pages, thrift shops, goodwill stores. Don't be afraid to ask family and friends if they have any equipment they aren't using and are willing to sale/trade with you.

Here is what I have in my home gym

Hand weights you can pick up hand weights pretty cheap at wal mart and other super stores.
Kettle Bells are also a great option and you can find adjustable sets. I picked this set up over Christmas with some money I received

Stability Ball again something that is very versatile and you can do lots of different exercises. I found an awesome deal at Wal Mart's online site  and with free site to store shipping it was less then $6.

Ab roller something my bestie suggested I pick up another inexpensive piece of equipment.

When is comes to finding a workout program there are tons of places to look. If you prefer dvd's check Amazon, If you are not sure what you want to do check youtube and pintrest you will find countless workouts videos. Everything from yoga to kickboxing. I also like fitness blender they have a lot of different workouts and you can choose beginner, intermediate, and advance.

What do you have in your home gym?

Hello and Welcome!!!!!

Hi I'm Tisha and Welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere! What will this little blog be about? As of now I am thinking a little bit of everything. Stay at home shenanigans & musings, me working on being in the best shape ever, my attempts at being crafty, and of course my boys.

A little about me I am 31. My hubby and I are both from Arkansas (originally I'm from Louisiana but, Arkansas is home). I consider myself a Southern Girl I have a bit of a southern twang and love sweet tea. I'm the oldest of 5 so I can be a bit bossy. I have a B.S. in Business Administration and hope to go back to work soon. I absolutely love to read and love to read lots of different things. I dabble in crochet and hope to expand my skills.  I love The Walking Dead and anything Marvel.

I have been married  7 1/2 years. We have 2 boys P is 6 and in 1st grade and D just turned 4 and stays home with me. My husband is in the military so we have a lot of adventures and craziness. I know our lifestyle isn't for everyone but, for the most part I love it. We have had the opportunity to see a lot of different places. And I have learned a lot about myself and have learned to make the best of all situations.

More Soon!!!
